Wit brought Ed and I to catch a fight after training. It was a good 10 minute ride from where we were staying. We arrived to the sounds of cheering that echoed into the night. The locals were placing bets on each fight and with each hit were encouraging the fighters on. What a great atmosphere.
The stadium is essentially a Warehouse with Scaffolding for seats - tickets were 1200 Baht to sit on the bleachers. It would probably have a capacity of 500 people.
There were 12 fights on the card and from what we could gather most of the fighters were between 12-30 years of age weighing in at 30kg -70kg. There were some prize bouts for 60,000 Baht which is a pretty healthy fight purse.
The fights were good, aggressive and fast - They showed an array of styles with representation from Fairtex and some of the local gyms. There was only one knock out which came from a lightening fast left kick to the head of his opponent.
The night lasted 4 hours and we hadn't eaten dinner so we ventured off to find food at ...1230am.
